Producer Michael ‘Mike Maven’ Francis was born in Mobile, Al on the first day of December. His parents both New Orleans natives, raised him between the two cities and so Mike credits both equally as being his hometowns. He feels both cities have endless musical talent and potential, although there is a jaded perception that Alabama doesn’t have a thriving musical community and lacks major label interest. Mike used those perceptions to fuel his musical ambitions.
Mike’s parents growing up in New Orleans, which is known to be a heavily rooted musically driven city, were very distinct about the path they wanted him to follow. Being almost forced to take piano lessons, music became a big part of his life. This also influenced his decisions to attempt music production. His New Orleans musical roots led him into other musical avenues including artistry and songwriting.
In mid 2006, during his developmental years, Michael met Grammy nominated producer Poli Paul, and was offered a position as a writer/understudy in Los Angeles, California where he began his professional writing and production career. His works were held in comparison to Poli’s previous Grammy winning, singer/songwriter, Ne-yo.
Mike Maven relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2010 where he discovered and developed Artist, Baby E. He created a sound so sonically genius, it landed Baby E deals with super producer, Dr. Luke as well as Island Def Jam (currently signed to Young Money), tunneling Mike further into the era to which he has so diligently worked towards.
In 2011, Mike moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where his music continues to thrive. Mike is a true Maven at his craft as he continuously lands hits such as, Kevin Gates’ White Tan(2013), Kid Ink’s Bad Ass Remix(2013), DJ Fellie Fel, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, and Ne-yo Reason to Hate Remix(2013), Roscoe Dash’s Nu Section and STO(2014), Juvenile’s My Niggaz feat. Future, Hangin’ On, Stranger, Winner, Juvenile’s Cash Money hit single, I Show Love ft Mike Maven(2015), Young Juve’s hit single, Do Yo Thang(2015), and Do Yo Thang-Remix feat. Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh(2015)
Mike is continuously learning and has gained credentials with more of the industry’s top artists such as Chris Brown, French Montana, Rick Ross, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, Baby E and has collaborated with other notable producers such as Jerry Wonda, Sak Pase, Tommy Gunz, KB, and more.
“…Life consist of vibrations and frequencies which travel though our bodies…even our souls. They spark different feelings and emotions. When I sit down to compose any track I try to transfer my feelings in the form of frequencies to trigger emotion in other people. My belief is if I can’t feel it, then it doesn’t exist…”
